Engelmann Media presents freeTunes 2.0: The audio converter for DRM-protected purchase files!

DRM-copy protection for digital music is on the brink of collapse – and this poses numerous problems for the future. freeTunes 2.0 of Engelmann Media helps to convert music files from one format to another. With this step an existing DRM-protection is not taken over so that the resulting target file can be used permanently, and above all legally – even on mobile devices.

Numerous online portals sell digital music. Especially at the beginning of this new music era the operators were very much afraid of copyright pirates. Consequently, the sold files were equipped with an extensive DRM-protection. The "Digital Rights Management" determined among others, on how many computers the purchased songs can be played and on how many CDs they may be burned. As a direct result it could happen that the newly bought songs could not be played on the own MP3-player.

Many problems only become obvious after some time. If single music vendors give up their business it may not be possible any more to play the protected songs as the online checked licences are no longer available. In this case the user has spent his money for nothing. Problems like these increase if after a system crash the locally stored licences are lost and the user has to fight for their renewal.

Tim Stoepler of Engelmann Media GmbH: "DRM did not prove its worth and only punishes the honest customer. Music lovers should make sure their songs are stored in a format without DRM-restrictions."

freeTunes 2.0: Convert music with a mouse click

freeTunes 2.0 is a tool that does all music lovers a good service. The program plays songs, audio books, podcasts and even videos, records the sound anew during playback and stores it in a different music format. During this procedure the DRM-copy protection is definitely not cracked, which is prohibited. Instead, it simply no longer exists in the new analogue recording. This is a legal procedure, so that freeTunes 2.0 helps to exclude the ugly abbreviation DRM completely from the own music collection whilst maintaining an excellent sound quality. Furthermore, the music lover selects exactly the suitable target format for a problem-free transfer to MP3-player, mobile phone, smartphone or any other portable player.

The tool accepts files in formats WMA, WMV, M4P, AAC, MPA, M4B, M4R and M4V as source. These are precisely the audio- and video formats that are most commonly used for DRM-protection. As target format freeTunes offers 2.0 MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA and WAV. During conversion the user also determines the required bit- and sample rate. Specialty of freeTunes 2.0 is that ring tones for the iPhone and the new iPhone 3F can be created in M4R format.

It goes without saying that unprotected formats can also be converted. For instance it is possible to play the sound tracks of videos in formats like AVI or Flash, record them anew and store them as MP3. That way, any songs and audio sources can be extracted from the popular YouTube-clips.

The integrated media player plays audio files in formats WAV, MP3, WMA, M4A, M4P, M4B, M4R, RAM and OGG – for check before or after a conversion.
